Z&A Records

Born from the underground. Built to last.

Where the signal was born

The Beginning

Before there was a label, there was a band. Dead Frequency — three girls in a basement, Jersey sweat on the mic, feedback looping through the void. From 2012 to 2016, they carved a name into the DIY underground, playing every VFW hall and dive bar that would have them. Raw energy. No apologies. Pure signal.

The DNA

When the lead vocalist moved on, she didn't leave the fire behind — she carried it forward. The ethos of those basement shows, the DIY spirit, the refusal to compromise — all of it became the blueprint for Z&A Records. Dead Frequency was never distributed through the label, but the label wouldn't exist without them. The underground pulse, the raw urgency, the belief that music matters more than the industry — that DNA runs through every release.

What Came Next

Years later, the lead vocalist of Dead Frequency co-founded Z&A Records — a label born from that same underground fire but built for a new era. The mission stayed the same: real music, real artists, no shortcuts. The label grew, the roster evolved, and the signal that started in a New Jersey basement now reaches everywhere. Dead Frequency may have gone quiet, but the frequency never died. It just found a new transmitter.
